Let Me Be Me
Let me be me is an EU Leonardo da Vinci funded project which aims to provide a research-based training toolkit on countering the workplace bullying of Adults with Intellectual Disabilities or Difficulties (AID/D) for employers, trainers and support staff.
The training toolkit will include background information on the problem, its nature and the extent in Europe, current projects, initiatives and approaches to countering workplace bullying, best practice Europe-wide as well as practical guidance and resources for trainers working with the target groups of people with a learning difficulty/learning disability and employers those working in field of supported employment. It will also include a Trainee’s workbook, specifically designed for AID/D.
The idea for the project developed from real life cases were people with learning disabilities who were in employment and work placements were experiencing bullying. Stepping Stones NI has worked with and supported some young adults who have experienced bullying in the workplace, which in the short term has affected their overall health and well-being. For others some have experienced bullying amongst their peer group whilst in vocational training towards employment.
